As a leader in the retail industry, we're committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences that exceed expectations. Our UX team is at the forefront of this mission, driving innovation and improvement in our digital experiences. We're now seeking a talented Lead UX Product Designer - Emerging Experiences to join our team and help shape the future of retail.

About Our UX Team

Our UX team is a dynamic group of design, content, research, and accessibility practitioners and experts who are passionate about improving and innovating our digital experiences. We pride ourselves on designing tangible, inspiring, and impactful solutions that serve all aspects of our business. As a Lead Product Designer within our Guest Experience team, you'll play a critical role in delivering best-in-class digital shopping experiences for our guests.

About the Role

As a Lead UX Product Designer - Emerging Experiences, your mission is to deliver innovative and impactful digital experiences that drive engagement, loyalty, and delight for our guests. You'll leverage and develop frameworks for UX sprints, deliver functional proof of concepts, and launch new experiences in partnership with product, engineering, and other cross-functional peers and leaders. Your focus will be on deeply understanding human needs, changes in consumer trends and behavior, business opportunities, and Target's brand potential to develop actionable, multi-horizon strategies for new experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and contribute to UX strategy and vision for product experiences across digital platforms, influencing investment, collaborations, and the balance of new vs. iteration
  • Lead UX sprints for discovery, co-creation, future-visioning, and functional proof of concept delivery for emerging experiences in partnership with product, engineering, and other cross-functional peers and leaders
  • Investigate new opportunities using both qualitative and quantitative research methods and deliver artifacts leveraging design strategy and service design methods
  • Align internal stakeholders, accelerate experimentation, and enable us to innovate more rapidly while scaling UX learnings and best-practices across teams
  • Create deliverables representative of both exploratory and go-to-market design phases, such as wireframes, user flows, UI design, and prototypes
  • Guide design process and mentor junior designers, holding design work to a high standard of craft, including accessibility, user research, information architecture, interaction design, visual design, and service design
  • Advance a culture of human-centered practice within UX, product, and engineering teams and build a network of relationships to enable your vision in service of our guest experience and Target as a whole

You should thrive at the intersection of design strategy, scaled solutions, and craft, with expert skills in UX, product, and service design, as well as structuring and planning work, and owning the design process.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Advanced strategic problem-solving, systems thinking, and collaboration skills
  • Proven ability to effectively use data and insights to set your direction and communicate your approach
  • Ability to balance the need for near-term solutions and long-term vision
  • Expertise in communicating how design connects to, serves, and improves business outcomes
