Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Child Development Technician to join our Kids First Fort Smith program. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality care and intervention to young children with developmental delays and special medical needs. This is a unique opportunity to work in a remote setting while making a positive impact on the lives of children and their families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care to a group of young children, including serving mealtimes, assisting with feeding, diapering, and dressing.
  • Offer developmentally appropriate behavioral guidance within daily scheduled activities.
  • Collaborate with the Early Childhood Development Specialist (ECDS) to provide individualized developmental services in a child-centered, family-focused manner.
  • Create engaging learning environments and apply curriculum to address the objectives contained in each child's treatment plan.
  • Establish positive relationships with children, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain accurate records of child progress and program activities.

Requirements and Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 6 months of experience working in the care of children.
  • Ability to pass state abuse registry checks, drug screen, submit to a TB skin test, and required immunizations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Additional education, such as CCOT, CDA, AA, or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field.
  • Experience working with children with special needs.
  • Knowledge of child development principles and practices.

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with children, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Strong observational and reporting skills.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to maintain accurate records.
