About the Role

As an entry-level CNC machinist, you will be responsible for programming and setting up CNC mills with the appropriate tooling to produce, modify, or repair precision parts. You will work closely with our engineering team to develop new parts and make prototypes, and you will be responsible for maintaining the accuracy and quality of our products. You will also be required to perform routine maintenance and repairs on our CNC machines, and to follow safety practices at all times.

Key Responsibilities

* Maintain CNC mill and ensure it is in good working order

• Write and modify simple programs
• Run machine programs as required
• Setup machinery to successfully run parts as specified
• Monitor machine operations throughout the cycle, checking that specifications are met
• Perform all necessary CNC mill maintenance and minor repairs
• Follow safety practices at all times
• Report any safety or maintenance concerns to management immediately
• Keep work area(s) clean and organized
• Obtain work orders from the production spreadsheet
• Understand the production list of machines needed to ship
• Take appropriate materials from inventory to make parts
• Provide parts to the assembly department or put them into stock
• Work with Engineering to develop new parts and make prototypes
• Work from complicated drawings and sketches to develop parts
• Maintain tooling inventory and submit timely requisitions to purchase shop supplies including, but not limited to... coolant, bits, and taps
• Complete work orders on time and monitor time expectations

Computer System

* Perform computer transactions to kit and complete work orders

• Maintain and verify inventory accuracy by participating in cycle counts and adjusting work orders as necessary
• Modify "Bobcad" CNC program

Miscellaneous

* Maintain general housekeeping of work area and equipment

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

* Minimum of 0-1 years previous experience

• Ability to understand and interpret drawings
• Ability to use and read measuring instruments
• Knowledge of geometry and basic math
• Familiarity with properties of metal
• Ability to use excel spread sheet
• Excellent hand-eye coordination
• Advanced knowledge of power tool usage
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently following general procedures
• Ability to handle multiple tasks
• Ability to operate general office equipment such as telephone, copier, fax, computer, etc.
• Must be able to pass background check

Working Conditions

* Use of skills requiring motor coordination with finger dexterity (e.g., keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) during most of a normal workday

• Required to exert physical effort in handling objects more than 50 pounds
• Required to be exposed to a general elevated noise level from machine tools running
• Required to wear safety glass and steel toed shoes
