Job Summary

In this role, you will be responsible for providing top-notch customer service to patients, prescribers, and other stakeholders via inbound and outbound calls, chats, and messages. You will utilize Walgreens' pharmacy systems to access patient and medication information, process new patient enrollments, and handle high-volume customer requests. As a Call Center Representative, you will work under direct supervision and adhere to established guidelines, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize Walgreens' prescription information systems and protocols to process new patient enrollments by entering data into the appropriate system.
  • Handle patient medication requests within HIPAA guidelines and enter refill orders for processing.
  • Investigate to obtain missing prescription information and interpret medical abbreviations (SIG codes).
  • Resolve all data entry-related exceptions.
  • Handle communication with patients (inbound calls, chats, messages) and make outbound calls to prescribers and patients on a case-by-case basis.
  • Resolve Third-Party Rejections by inspecting, gathering information, making corrections, and resubmitting for processing according to individual plan requirements.
  • Make phone calls to payers and others to obtain information, gain override approval, or otherwise resolve Third-Party Rejections.
  • Provide support to Pharmacists, both those in the office and those at different locations.
  • Identify and communicate issues to senior-level staff as appropriate.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
  • Basic level computer skills (e.g., start and shut down a computer, use a mouse to point and click, start and close programs, switch between applications, save files, print reports, and access information online).
  • Basic web browser skills, including opening a browser, typing in URLs, using a search engine, bookmarking a website, navigating using back/forward/stop buttons, and completing forms online.
  • Intermediate level keyboarding skills (at least 25 WPM, typing by memory, formatting documents).
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following preferred qualifications will make you a more competitive candidate:

  • At least 2 years of pharmacy technician experience in a retail or call center environment.
  • At least 1.5 years as a pharmacy technician with a certification/registration by state as granted by the State Board of Pharmacy or a nationally recognized certification agency.
  • Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality standards for services and assessment of customer satisfaction.
  • Moderate to advanced level keyboarding skills (at least 35 WPM, typing by memory, formatting documents).
  • Fluency in Spanish and English.
