Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, and maintain large-scale data pipelines, ensuring seamless data ingestion, transformation, and pipelining.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive the generation of data-driven operational insights that inform high-value streamlined solutions.
  • Develop and operationalize functions and solutions, including those involving near real-time high-volume streaming circumstances.
  • Work closely with senior technologists from the broader enterprise and beyond FedEx to create integrations and ensure smooth operations to downstream operational systems.
  • Classify best practices for future reuse as open, reusable patterns, templates, and code bases.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to junior team members, sharing expertise and experience to drive team growth.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to the development of high-quality, scalable, and maintainable code.

Essential Qualifications

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • A strong technical background in software engineering, programming, database systems, and distributed systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Azure, with experience in building CI/CD pipelines.
  • Hands-on development skills, with the ability to work at the code level and help troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Experience with DevOps practices, including coding, scripting, database, YAML, JSON, and IaC (Terraform).
  • Strong understanding of data engineering principles, including data pipelines, data processing, and data storage.

Preferred Qualifications

To stand out in this role, you will ideally have:

  • Experience working with high-volume data tools, such as Flash (Scala and PySpark), HDFS, Kafka.
  • Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL storage tools, including MySQL, Postgres, Cassandra, MongoDB, and ElasticSearch.
  • Familiarity with Python data tools, such as Pandas, Scikit-Learn, Matplotlib, TensorFlow, and Jupyter.
  • A sharp understanding of the transportation and operations domain, with the ability to identify high opportunity areas and design approaches and solutions that create and capture value.
