Job Summary

As a Customs Brokerage Representative III, you'll play a critical role in ensuring the smooth clearance of international shipments through customs. You'll be responsible for preparing customs entries, communicating with clients and stakeholders, and resolving any issues that may arise during the clearance process. This role requires advanced knowledge of customs regulations, including the Harmonized Tariff Schedules (HTS) and the Code of Federal Regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare customs entries and forward freight to designated locations, including interface with international and domestic carriers, overseas offices, and importers.
  • Follow up on the clearance process for all entries prepared, ensuring timely and accurate clearance.
  • Communicate documentation discrepancies to clients and supervisors, and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Coordinate freight delivery to designated locations, ensuring compliance with customs regulations and company policies.
  • Resolve finance and accounting reconciliation exchange issues, working closely with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Scan entries into the imaging system, meeting allotted and sensitive time requirements.
  • Prepare reports and presentations using various software packages and databases, analyzing data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Establish and maintain client relationships, providing excellent customer service and ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Participate in weekend work schedules on a department rotation basis and holiday schedules based on the needs of the operation and account requirements.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A high school diploma, GED, or international equivalent.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience working for a customs broker, with a strong understanding of customs operations, laws, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with the ability to accurately and rapidly enter data.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following qualifications are highly preferred:

  • A Customer Broker License, demonstrating your expertise and knowledge of customs brokerage.
  • Advanced knowledge of customs regulations, including the Harmonized Tariff Schedules (HTS) and the Code of Federal Regulations.
