Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and skilled HB Coding Analyst Associate to join our team in a remote capacity. As a Coding Analyst Associate, you will be responsible for utilizing your technical coding expertise to assign appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes to outpatient visit types. You will review medical records thoroughly, collaborate with other coding divisions, and interpret health record documentation to report accurate diagnoses and procedures. Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize technical coding expertise to assign appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes to outpatient visit types
  • Review medical records thoroughly, utilizing all available documentation to code appropriate diagnoses and procedures
  • Collaborate with Orders Management Unit (OMU) and other coding divisions for NCD/LCD edit resolution
  • Interpret health record documentation using knowledge of anatomy, physiology, clinical disease process, pharmacology, and medical terminology to report appropriate diagnoses and/or procedures
  • Follow ICD-10-CM Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting, Coding Clinic, Coding Clinic for HCPCs, CPT Assistant, and interpret coding conventions and instructional notes to select appropriate diagnoses and procedures with a minimum of 95% accuracy
  • Resolve NCD/LCD or other outpatient edit claim failures as assigned
  • Meet established minimum coding productivity and quality standards for each outpatient encounter type
  • Review and analyze dashboard to derive conclusions and determine opportunities for improvement
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Essential Qualifications

  • RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, or COC credential
  • AHIMA or AAPC membership

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a related field
  • 1 year of outpatient coding experience in a healthcare setting

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM diagnosis coding and HCPC Level I and II procedural codes
  • Expertise in resolving NCD/LCD claim edits
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet productivity and quality standards
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
