Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and teach primarily asynchronous, online food science courses, using best-practice pedagogy and potentially incorporating extended reality and other technological innovations.
  • Work closely with department faculty, Ag Online, and Purdue University Online teams to meet programmatic needs and develop a sustainable model for funding this position through program revenue and grants.
  • Lead and assist in meeting the instructional, engagement, and professional development needs of university students and industry professionals.
  • Collaborate with other faculty members to develop and deploy online programs, courses, and certificate programs in food science.
  • Build and maintain relationships with corporate clients, students, and other stakeholders to promote online programs and courses.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in food science, food engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Knowledge of and experience with one of Food Science's signature areas of research: i-Foods for health, ii-Food chemistry and structure, iii-Food processing and manufacturing, and iv-Food Safety and Microbiology.
  • Experience in primarily asynchronous, online course development and demonstrated effective teaching using best-practice online pedagogy.
  • Knowledge of and experience using extended reality in teaching.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with online program development and deployment.
  • Strong background in food science and online education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
