Job Summary

We're seeking an experienced Manager, Content Distribution Engineering to lead our Media Distribution Operations teams in delivering exceptional video playback experiences to customers worldwide. As a key member of our team, you'll specialize in caching technology, distributed networking, and operational experience in CDN edge services. Department/Group Overview

The Media Engineering department is a dynamic organization that's passionate about providing the best possible video playback experience, art, and metadata to customers worldwide. Our team is dedicated to streamlining and repurposing technology across different business and distribution channels, including streaming, linear, and theatrical. We're committed to delivering exceptional technology that meets the needs of our business and exceeds customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

As a Manager, Content Distribution Engineering, you'll be responsible for:

  • Managing a team of engineers charged with the support and engineering of Video Distribution
  • Executing within established process frameworks for Incident, Problem, and Change Management based on ITIL standards
  • Monitoring the health and performance of video distribution
  • Investigating, documenting, and resolving complex issues
  • Working with Development and Operations teams to provide analysis, tuning, and improvements
  • Guiding an engineering team in its ownership of systems and processes
  • Creating an environment of trust for people to excel
  • Providing input for stakeholders and decision makers in architecture, roadmap, and product
  • Communicating architecture, roadmap, and product objectives to engineers and gathering feedback for stakeholders
  • Championing cross-team projects
  • Coaching and mentoring other specialists on the team to ensure that all software utilizes Disney and industry best practices
  • Collaborating efficiently with product management, technical program management, operations, and other engineering teams to capture requirements, drive implementation, and provide transparency

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree, and/or equivalent work experience
  • 8+ years' experience in engineering
  • Experience in content distribution networks
  • An ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Strong discipline to delegate work and focus on solving management problems
  • Comfortable driving complex and high-profile projects without overextending personal health or well-being of your team
  • Strong communication skills and a desire to share your knowledge with team members and others at Disney

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a manager or technical lead of engineers
  • Experience with consumer-facing services and high-scale systems
  • Experience deploying and scaling within a cloud infrastructure
  • Experience directly managing and mentoring a team
  • Experience working with remote global teams and a flexible schedule to meet in different time zones

What We Offer

We're committed to providing a comprehensive compensation package that includes:

  • A competitive salary, with a hiring range of $152,200.00 to $204,100.00 per year, depending on location and experience
