About the Role: Substitute Teacher in Sussex, NJ

We're seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Substitute Teacher to join our team in Sussex, NJ. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll have the flexibility to choose your assignments and work on your own schedule. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on teaching experience while making a positive impact on students' lives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in the absence of their regular teacher
• Develop and implement lesson plans, ensuring continuity of learning
• Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment
• Communicate effectively with school staff, administrators, and parents
• Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback and develop your skills
• Engage in ongoing training and professional development to enhance your teaching practices

Essential Qualifications:

• Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
• NJ Substitute Credential
• Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
• Background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost)
• Full COVID-19 vaccination
• A passion for education and putting students first
• An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous teaching or substitute teaching experience
• Special education or subject-specific expertise (e.g., Math, Science, English)
• Experience working with diverse student populations

• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Flexibility and willingness to work varied schedules
