Job Overview and Responsibilities

As a Part Time Customer Service Representative, you will work as part of a supportive team to deliver outstanding service to our customers. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting customers inside and outside a U-Haul center with U-Haul products and services
  • Using smartphone-based U-Scan technology to manage rentals and inventory
  • Moving and hooking up U-Haul trucks and trailers
  • Cleaning and inspecting equipment on the lot, including checking fluid levels
  • Answering questions and educating customers regarding products and services
  • Preparing rental invoices and accepting equipment returned from rental
  • Installing hitches and trailer wiring
  • Filling propane (certification offered through U-Haul upon employment)
  • Driving a forklift (certification offered through U-Haul upon employment)
  • Participating in ongoing continuous U-Haul education through U-Haul University

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A valid driver's license and the ability to maintain a good driving record
  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Availability to work part-time, including holidays and weekends (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

While not required, the following skills and qualifications are preferred:

  • Previous customer service experience
  • Basic knowledge of U-Haul products and services
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with smartphone technology

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The work involves moderate risks or discomforts, which require special safety precautions, such as working around moving parts or machines, fumes, or irritant chemicals. You may be required to use protective clothing or gear, such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields. The physical demands of the job include:

  • Long periods of remaining stationary
  • Moving around indoors and outdoors
  • Positioning oneself to reach objects at varying heights
  • Moving equipment weighing a minimum of 50 lbs., assisted or unassisted
