Our Department of Specialized Learning is dedicated to supporting students with diverse abilities and needs, ensuring they receive the resources and services necessary to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally. As an RBT Paraeducator, you will be an integral part of our team, working collaboratively with special education teachers, Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), and other professionals to deliver high-quality support services to our students.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the implementation of IEP goals and behavior protocols under the supervision of special education teachers and BCBAs.
  • Apply ABA principles consistently in interactions with students to promote positive behaviors and skill development.
  • Collect and record data on student progress, using electronic data collection systems and other tools as required.
  • Implement toilet schedules, feeding programs, and other interventions as written in student IEPs.
  • Facilitate student interaction with peers during classroom instruction, recess, and other activities.
  • Document student progress using observational data collection and standardized assessments.
  • Participate in related service sessions to support the generalization of skills throughout the school day.
  • Implement behavior intervention plans, IEPs, and independence plans across various settings, including during recess, breaks, and emergency drills.
  • Assist students in developing independent living skills, such as hygiene, transportation, and self-management.
  • Maintain confidentiality and report concerns or requests directly to the Department of Specialized Learning and/or Principal.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's Degree (preferred) or Associate's Degree (60 college credits), or High School Diploma (or equivalent) and successful completion of Para-Pro.
  • Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification under the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
  • Two (2) plus years of successful experience working with students with high management needs under the direct documented clinical supervision of a BCBA.
  • Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Effective, active listening skills and ability to follow directions with accuracy.
  • Ability to enter and record data with accuracy using district-prescribed formats.
  • Organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to participate in District-offered professional development, continuing education, and/or training.
  • Language proficiency in Spanish, French, or Haitian Creole is desirable.
