Job Summary

As a Bilingual Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with our bilingual teachers and students to provide language support and reinforce learning objectives. This part-time position requires a strong and diverse skillset, including bilingual proficiency in English and Russian or Ukrainian. Key Responsibilities

• Work with assigned students or groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills initially introduced by the teacher
• Translate written documents at the request of the bilingual teacher, building principal, ELL Coordinator, or front office personnel
• Serve as an interpreter for parent conferences and telephone calls as needed
• Assist in preparation of instructional materials
• Serve as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher in the absence of the bilingual teacher
• Provide clerical assistance to the bilingual teacher, including filing, record keeping, data entry, and copying
• Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others

Essential Qualifications

• NCLB paraprofessional approval (or exempt with a valid Illinois teaching or substitute certificate)
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Russian or Ukrainian
• Ability to read, write, and speak English and Russian or Ukrainian
• Proficiency in using personal computers and general office equipment
• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and organize files, communication, records, and databases

Preferred Qualifications

• 60 semester hours of college-level credit
• Completed paraprofessional training program approved by ISBE or ICCB
• Passed ETS ParaPro assessment (460 or higher)
• Passed WorkKeys assessments (Applied Mathematics-4, Reading for Information-4, Writing/Business Writing-3, and Acceptable on Instructional Support Inventory)

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
