Preferred Qualifications
Role Purpose The Senior Health Information Management (HIM) Specialist advocates, upholds and ensures that documentation standards are met. This position maintains an understanding of medical staff by-laws, accreditation entities, and state & federal regulations and how they influence the documentation practices & standards of healthcare organizations.
Responsibilities
- Complete process and standard work auditing and targeted focus studies supporting functional managers to drive best practices and performance improvement initiatives.
- Represents the official record of care on behalf of BJC regarding legal requirements (ie. depositions, subpoenas, court appearance and affidavits).
- Performs and oversees the regulatory audit process (ie. CMS - RAC and non-RAC, TJC, State) to ensure timely and compliant responses.
- Provides ongoing feedback and collaborates on Action Plans to improve processes and to address non-compliant findings.
Minimum Requirements Education
- High School Diploma or GED
