Woodfords Family Services has a growing need for Foster Family Support Workers to join our team. We now have openings in Cornish, ME! Position Summary Woodfords' Therapeutic Foster Care (TFC) Program provides treatment-level foster care to children and youth 3-21 years with developmental and/or emotional disabilities who cannot reside with their biological family. With the support of trained foster parents and the Woodfords' treatment team, foster children and teens are offered guidance in navigating psychological, emotional, social, behavioral and learning challenges with the hope and intent for family reunification and life skills development. The Foster Family Support Worker will support the family unit by providing one-on-one support to foster children within home and community environments with a focus on promoting independence in daily living, social interaction, behavior management, and communication skills. This position involves strong applied therapeutic interventions and the ability to promote positive relationships with all members of treatment team and foster families. At minimum of 6 months experience in a similar role highly preferred. Opportunity Details
- Part-time, 15-20 hours per week
- Afternoons, evenings, and weekend availability required.
- Starting at $18.00 per hour
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have a high school diploma or GED, and have relevant life experience that includes, but is not limited to, post-high school or equivalent education or other specialized training.
- Must possess a least six months experience working with children and/or families; work experience with children who have special needs preferred.
- Must possess a valid State of Maine driver's license and have use of a properly insured/dependable vehicle.
- Familiarity and knowledge of typical and atypical child development, developmental disabilities/delays and mental health needs.
