About the Role: Substitute Teacher in Raritan, NJ

We're seeking an experienced and passionate Substitute Teacher to join our team in Raritan, NJ. As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll have the flexibility to work on your own schedule while making a positive impact on students' lives. Our substitutes are the backbone of our organization, and we're committed to providing you with the tools, support, and competitive compensation you deserve.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in the absence of their regular teacher
• Adapt to various teaching environments, including different grade levels and subject areas
• Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, as needed
• Manage classroom behavior and create a positive learning environment
• Communicate effectively with school staff, administrators, and parents
• Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback and develop your skills

Essential Qualifications:

• Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits
• NJ Substitute Credential
• Background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this)
• Full COVID-19 vaccination
• Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor
• A passion for education and putting students first
• An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a substitute teacher or in a related educational role
• Special education experience or training
• Experience working with diverse student populations

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities
• Classroom management and organization skills
• Trauma-informed teaching practices and classroom management techniques
• Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms to support instruction
