About the Homebound Services Program

The Homebound Services program is designed to provide academic support to students who are unable to attend school due to a medical condition. Our program is tailored to meet the individual needs of each student, with the goal of ensuring they receive a high-quality education and are prepared to return to the classroom upon recovery. As a Homebound Tutor, you will be responsible for providing instruction to students in their homes, working closely with parents and caregivers to ensure a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

  • Ability to work flexible hours, Monday-Friday, when school is in session
  • Travel to students' homes to provide instruction and support
  • Coordinate and collaborate with students, parents, and caregivers to schedule sessions and ensure a smooth learning experience
  • Collaborate with colleagues regarding student assignments and progress
  • Teach prescribed academic coursework in students' homes, with a parent or caregiver present
  • Communicate with students' teachers about progress and/or assignment completion
  • Maintain accurate records on students' progress and development
  • Other duties as assigned, with a focus on providing exceptional support to students and families

Essential Qualifications and Requirements

  • Valid Professional Educators Teaching License with endorsements in Special Education (LBSI, if assignment requires it)
  • Early Childhood Endorsement preferred, but not required
  • Ability to communicate effectively and accurately, both orally and in writing, in English
  • Flexibility in working with students who have medical issues and diverse learning needs
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience working with students who have special needs or medical conditions
  • Knowledge of curriculum design and implementation, with a focus on meeting the individual needs of each student
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, parents, and caregivers
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on collaboration and support
  • Familiarity with technology and digital tools, with the ability to integrate these into instruction and support
