Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to the unique needs of students with visual impairments
  • Conduct assessments and evaluations to determine the educational needs of students and develop strategies to address these needs
  • Collaborate with other educators, therapists, and support staff to create a comprehensive and inclusive learning environment
  • Provide instruction and support in areas such as Braille, assistive technology, and daily living skills

Essential Qualifications

  • Graduate from a teaching program with a specialization in visual impairment or a related field
  • Current license as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (VI) in California
  • Experience working with students with visual impairments, preferably in a school-based setting
  • Strong knowledge of assistive technology, Braille, and other adaptive tools
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
