Job Description

As a High School/Middle School Choir Accompanist, you will be responsible for accompanying all choirs, with repertoire varying in style and difficulty. This position requires approximately a 2-3 hour time commitment per day, Tuesday through Friday, with scheduled additional days and times for performances. Our district functions on a 4-day school week, offering a competitive pay package and a range of benefits.

Key Responsibilities

* Accompany all choirs, with repertoire varying in style and difficulty

  • Prepare music to the point of proficiency prior to the first rehearsal
  • Lead students in small sectionals and provide guidance and support as needed
  • Attend and accompany all performances, including concerts, festivals, district and state solo and ensemble events, and community outreach events
  • Collaborate with the classroom teacher to ensure a cohesive and effective music education program
  • Demonstrate flexibility and positivity in cooperating with the classroom teacher and other staff members

Essential Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in Music or a related field

  • Playing ability at, or above, accompanying high school musicians
  • Proficient sight-reading skills
  • Ability to prepare music to the point of proficiency prior to the first rehearsal
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and parents
  • Must submit and pass a background check

Preferred Qualifications

* Master's degree in Music or a related field

  • Experience in accompanying choirs and leading students in small sectionals
  • Familiarity with music education software and technology
  • Ability to teach music theory and history
  • Experience in music education administration or leadership

* Strong musical skills, including piano or keyboard accompaniment
