Remote Full-time Live

Introduction to Disney and the Role

The Walt Disney Company, a renowned American multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate, is seeking an experienced UX Researcher II to join its team. As a UX Researcher II, you will have the opportunity to work closely with designers, product managers, and stakeholders to shape and improve the future of entertainment. Your role will involve leading a wide range of product and design/user experience (UX) research projects, including generative and evaluative research. You will contribute to improving productivity, efficiency, and other business targets, making your work diverse and significant.

About the Business Group

The Design Group at Disney+ Hotstar is one of the critical groups, focusing on three major areas: Product Design, UX Research, and Systems and Guidelines. As a member of the design team embedded in the product organization, your group is moderately new but has already had a significant impact and scaled successfully. Every client scientist fundamentally collaborates with a particular product unit to ensure that client needs are met in the design of features and flows, going beyond imparting them to the respective groups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead client research on different aspects of products and experiences using methods such as usability studies, projective techniques, and contextual inquiry
  • Routinely engage with clients to understand their needs and pain points
  • Gather and analyze client behavior through qualitative studies, call-tuning in, ethnographic examinations, surveys, benchmark studies, and online trials (A/B testing)
  • Collaborate with Product Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, and other Client Experience Researchers (UXRs) to identify research opportunities
  • Advocate research findings to different audiences through written reports, storyboards, and presentations

Essential Qualifications and Skills

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • 2-4 years of experience as a UX Researcher or in a similar role, with weightage given to practical project experience over educational qualifications
  • Knowledge of qualitative and quantitative client research procedures, including experiment design, surveys, focus groups, face-to-face and remote usability testing, and ethnographic field examination
  • Distinct fascination with UX design cycles and processes
  • Energy for research and testing, with a desire to work collaboratively with creative contributors in Agile project teams
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with an emphasis on translating research insights into effective product experiences, and a proven ability to work within close timelines and excellent project management skills
  • A portfolio demonstrating complex system research and client testing results for web, desktop, and mobile experiences
  • Ability to collaborate with project partners and teams across various locations and cultures effectively

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

While not essential, the following qualifications and skills are preferred:

  • An individual who has applied fundamental research in the customer-facing product space
  • Master's degree in Psychology, User Experience, Human-Computer Interaction, Anthropology, Social Sciences, or related fields, with extensive industry experience
  • Experience working in high-paced product startup environments
  • Great interpersonal skills to present research findings to different audience types and position levels, providing valuable insights that drive noticeable value and implementation of research and testing results
