About the Role: Staff Engineer

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Staff Engineer to join our team of talented engineers who are passionate about designing, coding, and delivering software that makes a real impact on our customers' digital lives. Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, code, and deliver software solutions that exceed customer and team expectations, leveraging your expertise in software development and engineering principles
  • Assist project leadership in delivering software solutions that meet business requirements and align with the company's strategic objectives
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends, and apply this knowledge to drive innovation and improvement in our software development processes
  • Build awareness of open-source technologies and communities that enable high-volume, short-term systems, and collaborate with other engineers to integrate these technologies into our software development lifecycle
  • Cultivate a culture of innovation and experimentation, supporting a comprehensive software development lifecycle that incorporates the best technology and delivery methods
  • Join developers and services teams to verify events, write code, and provide guidance and support as needed
  • Ensure timely product launches, aligning the vision of next-generation card processing systems with regulatory requirements and business objectives
  • Promote a fun and high-quality culture, focusing on results, and recruit, coach, motivate, and retain top talent to join our team of engineers
  • Collaborate with peer technology and product teams across regions to drive business growth and customer engagement
  • Lead one of the environments that include modern web systems and complex business processes, leveraging a variety of technologies such as Node.js, React, Cassandra, Kafka, Java, mainframes, Oracle, DB2, Redis, and more
  • Communicate with senior management regarding direction and strategic changes, and build scalable, fault-tolerant solutions that move to a global enterprise scale

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology
  • Overall 3+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on designing, coding, and delivering software solutions that meet business requirements and exceed customer expectations
  • Experience with at least two of the following technologies: Java, Go, Vert.x, React, Envoy, gRPC, Protobuf, JSON
  • Experience with high-productivity, low-latency applications, and great home experience with low-latency distributed systems
  • Experience building systems such as service architecture and/or micro-services architecture
  • Experience with CI/CD tools like Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, and Sonar

Preferred Qualifications:

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of tokenization, virtual payments, business transaction technology, expense management, and interoperability
  • Strong knowledge of databases, including NoSQL databases such as Couchbase and Cassandra
  • Expertise in verbal and written communication, with the ability to create and deliver effective presentations and manage across the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and drive delivery within a geographically dispersed organization
  • Experience attracting, hiring, and retaining top engineering talent
  • Ability to think outside the box and drive innovation and improvement in our software development processes
