SAP MM Technical Consultant
SAP Materials Management (MM) Technical Consultant Position Overview We are seeking a skilled SAP MM Technical Consultant to join our team and provide technical expertise for our materials management systems. The ideal candidate will have strong ABAP development skills, deep technical knowledge of SAP MM architecture, and experience in developing custom solutions to support procurement and inventory management processes.
Key Responsibilities
ABAP Development & Customization:
- Develop custom ABAP programs, reports, and interfaces to support MM business processes
- Create and modify user exits, BADIs, and enhancement points for MM transactions
- Develop custom workflows for purchase requisition and purchase order approval processes
- Build automated data migration tools and batch input programs for material master and vendor data
- Create custom transaction codes and screen modifications using Dialog Programming
Technical Integration:
- Design and develop interfaces between SAP MM and external systems (EDI, supplier portals, warehouse management systems)
- Implement IDocs, RFCs, and web services for real-time data exchange
- Develop integration solutions using SAP PI/PO or Cloud Platform Integration
- Create automated file processing routines for vendor catalogs and price updates
- Support API development for mobile applications and third-party integrations
Reporting & Analytics:
- Develop custom reports for procurement analytics, inventory analysis, and vendor performance
- Create ALV reports with interactive features and drill-down capabilities
- Build custom dashboards and KPI monitoring tools using SAP Analytics Cloud or Fiori
- Develop automated reporting solutions with email notifications and data scheduling
- Implement custom print forms and output determination for purchase documents
Performance Optimization & Support:
- Analyze and optimize performance of MM-related custom programs and standard transactions
- Troubleshoot technical issues related to MM processes, interfaces, and custom developments
- Perform code reviews and ensure adherence to development standards and best practices
- Support system upgrades, patches, and technical migrations
- Monitor and resolve data inconsistencies and system errors
Project Delivery & Collaboration:
- Work closely with MM functional consultants to translate business requirements into technical solutions
- Participate in blueprint sessions and provide technical feasibility assessments
- Lead technical workstreams in SAP implementation and enhancement projects
- Create technical documentation, unit test scripts, and deployment procedures
- Support system testing phases including integration and performance testing
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related technical field
- 5+ years of hands-on ABAP development experience in SAP MM environments
- Strong expertise in ABAP programming including OOP concepts, performance tuning, and debugging
- Deep understanding of SAP MM technical architecture and database structures
- Experience with MM-related enhancement spots, user exits, and BADIs
- Proficiency in developing interfaces using IDocs, RFCs, and web services
- Knowledge of SAP development tools (SE80, SE11, SE38, SM30, etc.)
Preferred Qualifications
- SAP MM or ABAP certification
- Experience with S/4HANA development and Fiori/UI5 technologies
- Knowledge of SAP Cloud Platform and integration technologies
- Experience with SAP Workflow, BRF+, and business rules management
- Understanding of EDI standards and procurement-related message types
- Experience in utilities, energy, or similar industries
- DevOps experience with transport management and continuous integration
