Job Summary As a Professor of Dental Hygiene Education, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of oral health education at UMMC. You will be responsible for teaching, mentoring, and guiding dental hygiene students, as well as contributing to the development and implementation of curriculum that meets the evolving needs of the healthcare industry. Key Responsibilities

Develop and deliver high-quality didactic and clinical instruction in dental hygiene, incorporating evidence-based practices and cutting-edge technologies. Design, implement, and evaluate curriculum that aligns with the standards of the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) and the American Dental Association (ADA). Provide mentorship and guidance to students, fostering a supportive learning environment that promotes academic success and professional growth. Engage in scholarly activities, including research, publication, and presentation, to advance the field of dental hygiene and contribute to the institution's research mission. Participate in departmental and institutional service, including committee work, accreditation processes, and community outreach initiatives. Collaborate with colleagues to promote interdisciplinary education and enhance the overall student experience. Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to ensure the dental hygiene program remains at the forefront of oral health education. Qualifications and Requirements Essential Qualifications Earned master's degree in dental hygiene or related field from an accredited institution. Current licensure as a registered dental hygienist in the state of Mississippi. Demonstrated teaching experience in a dental hygiene program, preferably at the post-secondary level. Strong knowledge of curriculum design, implementation, and evaluation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctoral degree in dental hygiene or related field. Experience with curriculum development and accreditation processes. Record of scholarly activity, including research, publication, and presentation. Certification in a specialized area of dental hygiene, such as local anesthesia or restorative dentistry. Experience with online or hybrid course delivery.
