Experienced and Compassionate Kindergarten Teaching Assistant – Grant Funded, One Year Position

Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Kindergarten Teaching Assistant to support the classroom teacher and provide individualized instruction to students. The successful candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education, excellent communication skills, and a passion for working with young children. As a Kindergarten Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting students with instruction, maintaining a positive and focused classroom environment, and providing support to students with special needs.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist students with instruction under the direction of the classroom teacher
- Assist teacher in maintaining a positive, focused classroom environment
- Conduct small group instruction as directed by the teacher, with groups of students to provide literacy and math support
- Conduct intervention groups
- Conduct one-on-one instructional sessions as directed by the teacher, with students that need additional support
- Reteach and review Fundations concepts
- Support instruction during WINN (intervention/support) blocks
- Monitor, assist, and review based on Lexia/ST platforms
- Provide substitute coverage, as needed
- Escort students from room to room
- Toileting students as needed
- Includes working with students regarding their general education and special education needs
- Assist teaching staff in the implementation of IEP/504/SRBI plans
- Supervise students while they are at recess and lunch
- Copy materials for instructional purposes
- Assist teacher in filing material and preparing all necessary paperwork
- Alert teachers to problems that may be observed
- Supervise students during assessments
- Ensure classroom safety standards are met at all times
Essential Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
- Experience working with young children, preferably in a kindergarten setting
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and priorities
- Physical ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds, as needed
Preferred Qualifications
* Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
- Experience working with students with special needs
- Knowledge of Fundations and Lexia/ST platforms
- Bilingual or multilingual skills
