Remote Full-time Live

About Airbnb – Connecting People Through Trust and Belonging

Founded in 2007, Airbnb has transformed the way millions of travelers experience the world. From a modest apartment in San Francisco to a global platform that hosts over 4 million Hosts and welcomes more than 1 billion guest arrivals each year, Airbnb’s mission is simple yet profound: to help create a world where anyone can belong anywhere. The cornerstone of that mission is trust – the invisible currency that makes a stranger feel safe in a host’s home and lets an adventurous traveler explore new cultures with confidence.

Our Trust & Safety team is the guardian of that currency. Composed of engineers, data scientists, designers, product managers, policy experts, and operations specialists, the team builds the technology, policies, and processes that protect both Hosts and Guests at every touchpoint. By combining cutting‑edge machine learning, rigorous risk analysis, and human insight, we keep bad actors out while ensuring that the community feels safe, respected, and welcomed.

Why This Role Matters – The Impact of a Platform Manager, Content Integrity

As a Platform Manager – Content Integrity you will be the strategic architect and execution champion for the products that safeguard the authenticity and safety of Airbnb’s listings, reviews, and user‑generated content. Your work will directly influence the experiences of millions of users, shaping the perception of safety across the platform and reinforcing the brand’s promise of belonging.

This is more than a managerial position; it’s a chance to become a thought leader within a high‑visibility, cross‑functional ecosystem. You’ll partner with senior leadership, influence roadmap decisions, and champion data‑driven solutions that defend against fraud, misinformation, and abusive behavior. In short, you will help write the next chapter of hospitality by ensuring every interaction on Airbnb is trustworthy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Vision & Roadmapping: Define, communicate, and evolve the long‑term product vision for content integrity, aligning it with Airbnb’s broader Trust & Safety objectives and business goals.
  • Cross‑Functional Leadership: Lead an interdisciplinary squad of engineers, data scientists, designers, policy experts, and operations analysts. Facilitate collaboration, remove impediments, and ensure cohesive delivery of features.
  • Backlog Prioritization: Own the product backlog, employing rigorous prioritization frameworks that balance business impact, user safety, technical feasibility, and regulatory compliance.
  • Metrics & OKRs: Establish clear objectives and key results (OKRs) for each initiative. Track leading and lagging indicators such as fraud detection rate, false‑positive reduction, and user‑reported safety incidents.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Present roadmap progress and outcomes to senior executives, including C‑level leaders, using compelling storytelling and data‑driven insights.
  • Opportunity Evaluation: Conduct market and internal research to surface new product opportunities. Build business cases for build‑versus‑buy decisions, partnership explorations, and experimental pilots.
  • Risk Management: Anticipate potential bottlenecks, technical constraints, and regulatory challenges. Develop mitigation strategies that keep projects on schedule and within scope.
  • User‑Centric Design: Champion hypothesis‑driven development cycles. Conduct user interviews, usability tests, and A/B experiments to validate assumptions and iterate quickly.
  • Thought Leadership: Serve as the go‑to authority on content integrity within Airbnb. Mentor junior product managers, share best practices, and contribute to the broader Trust & Safety knowledge base.
  • Collaboration Across Platforms: Partner with other platform owners—such as Payments, Identity Verification, and Community Standards—to ensure cohesive safety coverage across the entire ecosystem.

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of product management experience, with a proven track record of shipping complex, high‑impact products.
  • Demonstrated background in security, trust, safety, risk, or fraud domains, preferably within a consumer‑facing technology company.
  • Strong analytical mindset, capable of translating large data sets into actionable product insights.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to global, senior‑level audiences.
  • Hands‑on experience building or managing machine‑learning‑enabled products, including model deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in hypothesis‑driven product development, user research, and rapid prototyping.
  • Entrepreneurial drive—comfort with ambiguity, high‑stakes trade‑offs, and fast‑paced environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross‑functional teams across multiple time zones and cultures.

Preferred Experience & Skills

  • Advanced degree (MS, MBA, or PhD) in a relevant discipline such as Computer Science, Data Science, Business Administration, or Psychology.
  • Experience with content moderation platforms, policy‑automation tools, or fraud‑detection frameworks.
  • Familiarity with regulatory environments (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and how they intersect with trust‑and‑safety product design.
  • Technical fluency in software development processes, APIs, and cloud‑native architectures (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Track record of leading teams through product pivots, crisis response, or large‑scale rollouts.
  • Public speaking or conference presentation experience on trust & safety topics.

Core Competencies & Attributes for Success

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to see the big picture while drilling down into meticulous details.
  • Data‑Driven Decision‑Making: Comfort with quantitative analysis, A/B testing, and interpreting statistical outcomes.
  • Empathy for Users: Deep understanding of the emotional stakes for Hosts and Guests when safety is at risk.
  • Collaborative Influence: Skilled at building consensus among divergent stakeholder groups.
  • Resilience: Thrive in high‑pressure environments, learning quickly from setbacks and iterating faster.
  • Innovation Mindset: Eager to explore emerging technologies (AI, NLP, graph analytics) to stay ahead of malicious actors.
  • Ethical Judgment: Strong personal integrity and the ability to balance business objectives with user protection.
