Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Accounts Payable Specialist to join our team in a full-time remote capacity. As an Accounts Payable Specialist at blithequark, you will work closely with the Accounts Payable Manager and other AP professionals, Senior Accountants, Controller, and Assistant Controller. Your primary responsibilities will include entering vendor invoices accurately and efficiently into our SAP system, screening AP email inbox to download vendor invoices and respond to vendor inquiries, and performing fortnightly reviews of various SAP reports to ensure timely and accurate invoice processing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Enter vendor invoices accurately and efficiently into SAP
  • Screen AP email inbox to download vendor invoices and respond to vendor requests
  • Perform fortnightly reviews of various SAP reports (GRIR and MRBR) to ensure invoices are being processed timely and accurately
  • Prepare 1099 reporting and ensure that all vendors have the required tax identification and W-9 information on record
  • Communicate with vendors in a timely and efficient manner
  • Invoice entry (60%)
  • Vendor support (30%)
  • Ongoing/ad-hoc tasks (10%)
  • Review invoice aging
  • Ensure accurate general ledger coding
  • Ensure accurate matching of purchase orders to invoices
  • Provide excellent customer service to all internal and external stakeholders

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in an Accounting discipline
  • At least 0-2 years of relevant work experience in accounts payable or a related field
  • Proven track record of handling accounts payable capabilities, preferably in a distribution or retail environment
  • SAP experience is preferred, but not required
  • Ability to handle a high volume of transactions and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Strong Excel skills and demonstrated ability to create accounting spreadsheets for tracking vendor activity
  • Results-driven with high standards for excellence
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to complete projects by deadline
  • Ability to repeatedly manage routine tasks and maintain attention to detail
  • Seeking new efficiencies to bring to the organization
  • Ability to handle special projects as assigned and work diligently to a successful conclusion
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Computer literate - Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel)

Preferred Qualifications

While not required, the following preferred qualifications will be considered an asset:

  • Previous experience working in a remote or hybrid environment
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Experience with other accounting software or systems
  • Certification in accounting or a related field (e.g., CPA, CMA)
