Our Data Engineering team is part of the Disney Choice Science + Mix (DDSI) association, which supports clients across the company, including the Disney Parks, Experiences and Products division, which encompasses Parks and Resorts, both domestic and international, Consumer Products and Disney Consumer Products, as well as the Disney Media Networks division, which includes Studios Content (Disney General Entertainment Content), General Entertainment Content, and ESPN and Sports Content.

Our Data Engineering team is responsible for collaborating with Choice Science, Client and Innovation colleagues on various development and sustainment projects, special requests, prototyping, and research initiatives by providing data pipeline and dataset design services.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development and support of cloud-based data pipelines for our Media business. The successful candidate will have a strong background in data engineering, cloud-based technologies, and data analytics, with experience working with large datasets and cloud-based platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, or similar.

Key Responsibilities

As a Data Engineer at blithequark, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and supporting cloud-based data pipelines using technologies such as Snowflake, Databricks, or similar
  • Designing and implementing data pipelines to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify data requirements and design data pipelines to meet business needs
  • Developing and maintaining automated workflows and schedulers to ensure data pipelines run smoothly and efficiently
  • Troubleshooting and resolving data pipeline issues and errors
  • Providing data insights and recommendations to stakeholders to inform business decisions
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering and cloud-based platforms

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience in ELT/ETL data pipeline development and support
  • Strong knowledge and experience using Python and SQL (ideally with Snowflake)
  • Experience working in a multi-cloud environment (Dev, QA, Prod, etc.) and DEVOPS strategies for code organization and development
  • Experience creating and maintaining automated workflow schedulers
  • Strong understanding of data modeling and data architecture
  • Experience working with large datasets and cloud-based platforms, ideally Snowflake, Databricks, or similar

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience working with cloud-based design and product offerings, ideally AWS

  • Experience overseeing and delivering code using a source control tool like GitLab/GitHub
  • Experience using Docker
