Job Summary

As a Customer Service and Sales Professional at blithequark, you will be responsible for providing fast, friendly service to our customers, learning about our products and services, and using that knowledge to sell entire projects. You will work closely with your Department Supervisor and other associates in your department as well as other departments to ensure that our customers receive the best possible experience. You will also be responsible for maintaining the in-stock condition of assigned areas, ensuring that they are clean, shop-able, and safe.

Key Responsibilities

* Provide fast, friendly service to customers by actively seeking out their needs and providing assistance

  • Learn about products and services using our tools and provide information to customers to sell entire projects
  • Greet, qualify, recommend, and close every customer in your department
  • Handle basics in adjacent departments, including Building Materials, Décor, Electrical, Flooring, Garden, Hardware, Kitchen & Bath, Lumber, Millwork, Paint, Plumbing, and Tool Rental
  • Maintain the in-stock condition of assigned areas, ensuring that they are clean, shop-able, and safe
  • Provide a safe working and shopping environment by following all safety policies and standards, completing specified safety training, immediately correcting hazards and unsafe conditions, or reporting conditions to the Manager on Duty
  • Work safely as not to endanger yourself, co-workers, vendors, or customers
  • Collaborate with your Department Supervisor and other associates in your department as well as other departments to ensure that our customers receive the best possible experience

Essential Qualifications

* High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred

  • 1-2 years of customer service or sales experience in a retail or sales environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time
  • Availability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays

Preferred Qualifications

* Experience in a sales or customer service role in a retail or sales environment

  • Knowledge of building materials, décor, electrical, flooring, garden, hardware, kitchen & bath, lumber, millwork, paint, plumbing, and tool rental products and services
  • Experience with sales software and tools
  • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues to achieve goals
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic and ever-changing environment
