Mid-Level Bookkeeper/Accountant with Inventory Management Expertise

  • We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper/Accountant with strong inventory management experience to join our growing finance team. This role supports the Director of Finance in maintaining accurate financial records, managing complex inventory systems, and ensuring full compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
  • The ideal candidate combines hands-on bookkeeping precision with the analytical skill of an accountant and is comfortable navigating the intersection of finance, operations, and production - helping to bring order, clarity, and insight to a fast-scaling wellness company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate financial records by recording daily transactions - including purchases, sales, receipts, and payments - using Surya’s QBO accounting software and others.
  • Oversee all aspects of inventory accounting, including tracking stock levels, reconciling discrepancies, and preparing detailed valuation reports.
  • Partner with Production Operations and Purchasing teams to ensure accurate inventory movement, cost allocation, and reporting.
  • Perform regular audits of inventory levels and costs; investigate and resolve discrepancies in coordination with relevant departments.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing, focusing on inventory accounts and Cost of Goods Sold (COGS).
  • Process and manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing and vendor payments.

Qualifications

  • Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience: 5-10 years of professional bookkeeping or accounting experience, with at least 5 years specifically in inventory management. Technical Skills
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks Online (QBO), some NetSuite, and best-in-class third-party inventory integrations for QBO and BILL.com.
  • Strong command of Excel and data analysis tools.
  • E-Commerce Experience: Familiarity with platforms such as Shopify and their integrations with accounting systems.
  • Detail-Oriented: A meticulous approach to data entry and reconciliation, with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving: Strong ability to identify, investigate, and resolve complex financial or inventory issues.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for collaborating with internal teams and external partners. Compensation & Hours
  • Type: Remote part-time contract position, with potential to transition to full-time W-2 employment based on performance and company needs.
  • Pay: $25-$35 per hour, DOE.
  • Expected Hours: 15-25 hours per week to start.
