- Backend development – Design, develop, and maintain scalable, high-performance RESTful APIs using NestJS.
- Third-party integrations – Architect and integrate third-party services seamlessly, ensuring minimal performance impact.
- Database management – Optimise schema design and query performance for PostgreSQL and other relational databases.
- Code quality – Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following SOLID principles and DRY methodologies.
- TypeScript & JavaScript – Develop robust backend services using TypeScript and JavaScript.
- Security & performance – Implement best practices for security, scalability, and performance optimisation.
- Collaboration – Work closely with frontend developers, DevOps engineers, and product managers to deliver high-quality software.
- Autonomous execution – Take ownership of development tasks, manage priorities effectively, and deliver high-quality code with minimal supervision.
- Testing – Create and maintain test plans, and write unit and integration tests using Jest, Mocha, or similar frameworks.
- Code reviews – Conduct peer code reviews and mentor junior developers to improve coding standards. What you bring to the table
- 2+ years of experience in Node.js and TypeScript development
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and its advanced features
- Hands-on experience with SQL databases, particularly PostgreSQL
- Experience with Prisma or similar ORM tools
- Proficiency in Docker containerisation
- Solid understanding of RESTful API design principles
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments
- Strong Git version control skills
- Experience writing unit and integration tests
- Knowledge of application security best practices
- Skills in system monitoring and performance optimisation
- Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
- Self-motivated with a passion for learning new technologies
- Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services Bonus points if you have
- Experience working with NestJS apps in production
- Strong system design skills and an understanding of different engineering approaches
- Experience configuring and managing Kubernetes clusters
- Awareness of frontend limitations and effective backend workarounds
