Legal Editor/AVP of Publications and ADR Resources - American Arbitration Association - New York City, NY - work from home job Company: American Arbitration Association Job description: Overview The American Arbitration Association, the leading provider of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) services, has an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Vice President of Publications and ADR Resources, who will promote understanding and use of alternative dispute resolution through the development and production of high-quality publications. The successful applicant will work in our Downtown, New York office. This position's annual salary range is $121,000 - $128,000, with an annual incentive opportunity. Responsibilities

Essential Duties:

  • Budgets, manages and monitors financial aspects of Publications operations.
  • Develops short- and long-term goals to optimize Publications revenue-generating opportunities and role of Publications within the larger context of AAA goals.
  • Strategizes, solicits and reviews content of AAA periodicals, books, Dispute Resolution Journal, and other educational material to promote the use of alternative dispute resolution in conformity with AAA goals and for revenue generation.
  • Writes summary promotional material for AAA educational programs; reviews and edits communications to AAA panelists; writes and/or edits divisional newsletters; edits panelist resumes; edits/proofreads RFPs; drafts Publications blogs for staff Sharepoint site.
  • Originates and engages external organizations, academic institutions, and information providers to partner with AAA on product development and production, including books, DR Journal, and online publication of AAA labor, employment, ICDR and consumer arbitration awards. Maintains and expands materials licensing/royalty program, including review of current/ongoing licensing arrangements. Monitors royalty payments and liaises with licensees.
  • Supervises freelance editor(s) and licensee editor(s) as necessary.
  • Writes/edits AAA Annual Report.
  • Responds to customer service requests for article/rules reprint permission; requests for archived Rules; requests for publications-related information/AAA historical information/back issue Dispute Resolution Journal articles.
  • Reviews and edits marketing and other materials upon request.
  • Edits/proofreads AAA Rules changes and maintains AAA Rules archive.
  • Fulfills Publications book orders made via online ordering page of AAA website.
  • Participates on special projects committees.

Qualifications

Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in business, legal studies, or English; law degree (JD) a plus; five (5) years of related experience (e.g., managing production of publications, etc.); or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Technical skills: proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook. Working knowledge of arbitration, mediation and other ADR processes; Knowledge of both text and digital publishing for books, periodicals and newsletters; Superior writing and editing skills a must; working knowledge of licensing procedures and copyright.
