Job Description
Job Description The project is structured into three main phases: Engagement Readiness, Navigate Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform Planning, and Foundation. Location: Remote Duration: 1.5 Month Contract Interview Process: Video Interview Citizenship: USC/GC Only Phase 1: Engagement Readiness This initial phase focuses on preparation and logistics to ensure the project starts smoothly. Technical Oversight
- Implement a technical prerequisites checklist for the client to complete
- Validate that the technical prerequisites have been met
- Determine if the environment is ready for the engagement
- Answer technical questions to prepare client personnel
Logistics
- Identify project points of contact
- Coordinate with project leads and stakeholders before the official kickoff
- Arrange onsite requirements and logistics
- Coordinate access to necessary document repositories
Phase 2: Navigate Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform Planning This phase involves workshops and discussions to define strategy and create a plan. Strategy and Planning Workshops
- Develop an automation strategy covering team skills, adoption plans, and benefit identification
- Determine automation objectives and prioritize use cases with target criteria and measurements
- Identify interconnections and dependencies for business workflows
- Understand networking requirements and topologies for the Ansible Automation Platform
Defining Processes and Use Cases
- Establish ways of working and rules of engagement
- Discuss monitoring, reporting, and retention requirements
- Define the automation content lifecycle (content creation, inventory, credentials, execution environments)
- Define and create implementation guides for three targeted automation use cases:
1. ServiceNow integration 2. Provisioning RHEL servers 3. Patching existing RHEL servers (stretch goal) Documentation and Alignment
- Establish a task backlog for the foundation phase to deliver a minimum viable product (MVP)
- Present outcomes of the Navigate phase to stakeholders and agree on next steps
Phase 3: Foundation This is the implementation phase where the planned infrastructure and automation are built. Ansible Automation Platform Infrastructure
- Populate an inventory in Ansible Controller with at least one source control inventory source
- Combine job templates into a workflow template
- Deploy, configure, and validate a Private Automation Hub Cluster
- Create and use one custom Execution Environment to support VMware integration
- Integrate the Ansible Automation Platform with ServiceNow to trigger Ansible tasks
Automation Content Creation
- Write Ansible content (playbooks, roles) to achieve goals for the following use cases:
1. Creating new RHEL servers on VMware 2. Creating new RHEL servers on Nutanix (stretch goal) 3. Patching existing RHEL servers using LEAPP (stretch goal) Ongoing Technical Oversight
- Resolve technical issues, manage scope, and submit product issues or requests for enhancements (RFEs)
- Escalate issues as needed and manage technical communications to facilitate decision-making
Requirements
Required Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform (controller, workflow templates, private automation hub, execution environments).
- Ability to develop and deploy Ansible playbooks and roles for automation.
- Experience with automation use cases including:
- ServiceNow integration
- Provisioning RHEL servers
- Patching existing RHEL servers
- Knowledge of automation content lifecycle (content creation, inventory management, credentials, execution environments).
- Ability to integrate Ansible Automation Platform with other enterprise tools (e.g., VMware, ServiceNow).
- Experience in infrastructure implementation and automation projects.
- Strong troubleshooting, technical oversight, and escalation skills.
- U.S. Citizenship or Green Card status (as per eligibility requirement).
- Availability to commit to a short-term contract (1.5 months, remote).
