The Role
As a Data Engineer II on our Ring Data Warehouse team, you'll play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining advanced data ingestion pipelines that support our business partners across various verticals. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams, including software development, research, and business stakeholders, to ensure that our data pipelines are efficient, scalable, and secure.
Key Responsibilities
* Design and develop effective, adaptable, and secure data pipelines to support business partners
- Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and develop data pipelines that meet business needs
- Work with a complex data environment, utilizing the right design to manage data, and support various analysis use cases, including business reporting, data pipeline creation, AI, model development, statistical models, and simulations
- Develop and maintain structures or tools for internal team and external partner use to manage data
- Perform code audits and ensure best practices are followed for ETL and data cleanliness by colleagues and supporting teams
A Day in the Life

- Gather and analyze requirements from business partners across verticals, such as memberships, deals, inverter strategies, finance, products, and more
- Design and develop new data ingestions using a combination of Local AWS services and internal Amazon tools
- Maintain and improve existing data ingestions, ensuring they meet evolving guidelines and corporate standards
- Develop and maintain structures or tools for internal team and external partner use to manage data
- Perform code audits and ensure best practices are followed for ETL and data cleanliness by colleagues and supporting teams
About the Team
Our Ring Data Warehouse team is responsible for managing the integrated data repository for Ring. We collect and distribute data from various internal and external sources, which are used by different partners, such as Ring product design, finance, inventory network, advertising, customer service, and sales data. We're a collaborative and dynamic team that's passionate about delivering high-quality solutions that drive business growth and customer satisfaction.
Essential Capabilities
* 3+ years of experience in data engineering
- Experience with data visualization, warehousing, and building ETL pipelines
- Experience with SQL
Preferred Capabilities
* Experience with AWS services, such as Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions
- Experience in at least one modern programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, or NodeJS
- Experience with non-relational databases/data stores (object storage, document or key-value stores, graph databases, column-family databases)
