Job Type Full-timeDescriptionThe Marketing and Public Relations Manager leads the development, coordination, and execution of the Museum's marketing and public relations initiatives to enhance visibility and community engagement. Responsibilities include managing marketing grant writing and administration, creating and implementing communication strategies, overseeing advertising and promotional activities, and supporting special events. This role ensures a strong social media and web presence, manages content creation for publications and collaborates with an external marketing firm on strategic planning. Additionally, the Manager engages with donors, sponsors, and community organizations, analyzes marketing trends, and assists in fundraising efforts while maintaining consistent messaging across all platforms.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelops, coordinates, and directs the organization's marketing and public relations activities. In coordination with an external marketing firm, manages and implements a marketing strategic plan to attract, retain, and service Museum and Special Event visitors, program participants, and members on a local and regional basis. Analyzes data regarding Museum marketing trends and develops strategies for increased success in these areas. In coordination with an external marketing firm, oversees the development, production, and distribution of museum publications, brochures, press releases, and public service announcements. Makes photographs, storylines, video, or audio recordings for media representatives and other persons interested in promoting the Tallahassee Museum's activities or messages. Maintains and updates media contact information.Develops and implements communications and marketing strategies designed to keep the public informed about the Tallahassee Museum's mission, programs, exhibits, events, and accomplishments. Plans and oversees the Museum's advertising and promotion activities, including print, electronic, and direct mail outlets. Handles the marketing and PR for and assists in planning the Museum's special events. Attends all Museum special events.Maintains a prominent social media presence, executes social media campaigns, and focuses on web and electronic communications, ensuring consistency of information at all touch points.Researches the placement/purchases of advertising in print, outdoor, radio, and television for Museum activities and special events. Researches inquiries and follows up on local, regional, state, and national PR/marketing opportunities.Writes and/or edits and maintains the content of the Museum's websites and other publications, including proofing, creative ideas, and marketing opportunities. Manages the design and creative updates to the website. Serves as an on-air media representative as needed. Works closely with the other managers/directors to advance the Museum's visibility within the community and generate the community's support for the Museum. Engages in appropriate community organizations and activities to increase awareness of the Museum. Manages the grant writing, reporting, and administration of marketing grants. Assists the Membership and Annual Fund Manager in creating and designing annual fund appeals, and other fundraising materials throughout the year.Creates regular reports on membership status, marketing, and development efforts for the Board and other Museum partners. Engage with current and potential donors, visitors, sponsors, and members via phone, email, and mail to ensure their engagement and support of the Museum.Generate native photographic and video content for social media and other marketing outreach platforms.Supervises unpaid internship positions within the Division of Institutional Advancement and partners with key roles throughout the Museum to publicize the Museum's mission and activities further.RequirementsBachelor's degree in a related field and 4-6 years related experience and/or training OR equivalent combination of experience and education.Ability to read, analyze, and interpret standard scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or business community members. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.Valid Driver's License and Safe Driving Record.Knowledge of computers, ability to use a personal computer, experience with standard business and fund-raising software, experience with multiline phone systems, and ability to maintain and update website content.Basic knowledge of Meta Business Suite, HTML programming, Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, MailChimp, and JotForm is preferred.Reports to: President/CEOThis role offers an inspiring opportunity to shape the Museum's operational and financial success and ensure its continued impact as a cherished cultural and educational cornerstone for the Tallahassee community and beyond.
