About the position The main function of a supply chain analyst is to coordinate and expedite the flow of work and materials within or between departments of an establishment according to production schedule. A typical supply chain analyst is responsible for reviewing and distributing production, work and shipment schedules and compiling reports on inventory levels, cost, etc.
Responsibilities
- Examine documents, materials and products, and monitor work processes in order to assess completeness, accuracy and conformation to standards and specifications.
- Review documents such as production schedules, work orders, and staffing tables to determine personnel and materials requirements, and material priorities.
- Record production data, including volume produced, consumption of raw materials, and quality control measures.
- Requisition and maintain inventories of materials and supplies necessary to meet production demands.
- Develop weekly store and SKU level sales and gross margin plans and forecasts
- Model impacts of various promotional strategies on top-line sales and gross margin
- Work closely with the Merchant to understand the impacts of different assortment strategies and recommend optimal product mix
- Partner with Product Marketing teams to understand impacts of product portfolio decisions and incorporate input into forecast
- Work closely with Inventory Manager to ensure adequate supply of inventory by SKU by location and minimize stock outs
- Provide ad hoc analysis and insights and proactively recommend opportunities to drive incremental sales and gross margin
- Works with cross-functional business partners to understand and resolve forecast and demand issues to proactively create and execute plans that provide predictable overall Supply Chain results and costs
- Analyzes actual sales to customers and sell-out data to actively identify exceptional or un-forecasted activities. Drives fast, appropriate actions to minimize the impact of deviations from the Demand Plan
- Communicate to sales team and stakeholders about product availabilities and update customers.
- Develop and execute product demand plans to meet organization goals based on demand patterns and business trends.
- Provides solutions based on research of system capabilities, standard processes, and best practices
- Coordinates projects, including new product launches and life cycle changes.
Requirements
- Verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to analyze costs related to manufacturing, labor and materials.
- Ability to accurately document and record customer/client information.
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to shipping and production.
- Previous experience with computer applications, such as Microsoft Word and Excel.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- 8-10 years related experience required.
- BA/BS college degree required or its equivalent.
- 8-10+ years of Inventory, supply planning, material planning, or demand planning experience Demand Management/Planning/Inventory Management and/or strategic sourcing
- Thorough understanding and experience dealing with supply chain processes which will help identify groups and/or teams to collaborate with to solve issues that arise on a day to day basis as it relates to inventory control
- Understand master scheduling, forecasting, procurement and demand planning principles
- Working knowledge of ERP systems (iSeries, Oracle, SAP,JDA), MS Office (Excel & Access)
- This includes preparing formula driven spreadsheets, spreadsheet charting, and database querying
- Thorough knowledge and comfort working with various ERP systems
- Strong analytical abilities
- Able to work flexible hours and travel
- Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and influence personnel of various levels and disciplines
- Self-starter, high level of personal accountability, and innovative individual.
Nice-to-haves
- MBA preferred.
- APICS or other forecasting certification preferred.
- Experience using Replenishment and Fulfillment software is strongly preferred
