Shopify Designer/Developer for Children’s Adventure Membership Website (Digital + Physical Products) Project Overview We are building a website for Captain Heaney’s Adventure Club (CHAC) — a family-run, outdoor adventure brand that provides screen-free, story-based adventure experiences for kids ages 6–11. The website will function as: •A public marketing site (brand story, how it works, blog)

  • An e-commerce store selling:

o Digital adventure downloads (PDFs and resources) o Physical merchandise and adventure tools

  • A members-only portal with login access, subscriptions, gated content, and downloadable resources

We are looking for an experienced Shopify designer/developer who can both build the site and recommend the appropriate Shopify apps to support memberships, subscriptions, and digital content delivery. Platform & Required Experience

  • Shopify (core platform)
  • Shopify customer accounts
  • Shopify digital + physical products
  • Shopify subscriptions / memberships
  • Shopify apps & integrations
  • Shopify theme customization (Liquid/CSS preferred, but no custom backend required)

Scope of Work 1. Design & UX

  • Implement a clean, adventure-themed, family-friendly design
  • Fully responsive (desktop + mobile)
  • Clear navigation separating:

o Public content o Shop o Members-only area

  • Branding (logo, colors, fonts) will be fully provided

We are not looking for copywriting — we will supply content — but we do want design/layout guidance and UX best practices. 2. Public Website Pages Build and configure the following pages:

  • Home
  • About the Adventure Club
  • How It Works
  • Shop – Adventures (Digital Products)
  • Shop – Merchandise (Physical Products)
  • Membership Landing Page (“Join the Adventure Club”)
  • Blog
  • FAQ
  • Contact

3. E-Commerce Setup

  • Shopify checkout and payment setup
  • One-time purchase digital products
  • One-time purchase physical products
  • Product collections (Adventures vs Merchandise)
  • Basic shipping and tax setup (U.S.-focused)

4. Membership & Subscription Functionality

  • Recommend and implement appropriate Shopify apps for:

o Memberships o Recurring subscriptions (monthly / annual) o Gated content

  • Configure:

o Member login o Members-only pages o Content access based on:  Active subscription  Individual adventure purchases

  • Members should be able to:

o Log in o View purchased adventures o Access base member resources o Manage their subscription (billing, cancel, upgrade) 5. Digital Content Delivery

  • Recommend and implement a digital delivery system (e.g., Sky Pilot or similar)
  • Ensure users only see/download content they’ve purchased
  • Organize adventures into a clean Adventure Library
  • Set up base content that is available to all members
  • Set up custom embedded map functions (consumer enters address, generates map, and embeds into other document)

6. Documentation & Handoff

  • Provide basic documentation or a walkthrough covering:

o Adding new adventures o Uploading new digital content o Managing memberships/subscriptions

  • Goal is to enable us to add content ourselves after launch

7. Post-Launch Support

  • Light post-launch support to ensure:

o Apps function correctly o Any bugs or conflicts are resolved

  • Ongoing support can be discussed separately (retainer or hourly)

Timeline

  • Target launch: June 1, 2026
  • We value quality, structure, and clarity over speed

  • Fixed-price proposals or
  • Hourly + milestone-based structure

Ideal Candidate

  • Strong Shopify portfolio (required)
  • Experience with memberships, gated content, or subscriptions
  • Comfortable recommending Shopify apps and explaining tradeoffs
  • Clear communicator who works well with non-technical founders
  • Organized and proactive
  • Bonus: experience with family, education, or kids-focused brands
