SALT Income Franchise- Tax Experienced Associate (Bay Area)

Responsibilities
- Assist middle market and Fortune 500 clients with evaluating and resolving state and local income tax issues, and ensuring compliance with applicable state tax laws
- Assist with SALT compliance quality control reviews and perform research on relevant state tax law
- Assist clients with state and local tax audit disputes
- Draft technical memoranda regarding state and local tax issues
- Interact and manage multiple clients in a deadline-oriented environment while maintaining exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
- Maintain internal relationships with colleagues, other service lines and engagement/project teams
- Develop and retain technical tax expertise
- Proactively identify and communicate issues as they arise
- Maintain a positive and “team player” attitude
- Become familiar with and adhere to the firm’s policies and procedures
- Learn and grow from direct on the job coaching and mentoring along with participating in firm wide learning and development programs
- Utilize your entrepreneurial skills to network and build strong relationships internally and externally with clients

Skills
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, math, finance, business, economics, or a related field of study
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience with a law firm or public accounting firm, or analogous industry or public sector / tax agency experience focused on SALT income tax matters
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated skills in the areas of legal research and writing, time management, communication, interpersonal skills, relationship building, collaboration, and problem solving
- Strong leadership, project management, organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to travel, as needed
- Master's Degree in Taxation, or JD / LL.M
- CPA, bar membership or equivalent credential
- Previous experience performing tax research and providing technical advice on state and local tax issues
- Experience in serving mid-market clients
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
