- Enforces meter and off-street parking lot parking regulations as outlined in the Huntington Beach Municipal Code (HBMC) and California Vehicle Code (CVC)Provides enforcement services to coastal Huntington Beach in the off-street parking facilities and the on-street paid parking areas (meters) on a rotational basisIssues citations using a Citation Writer and cellular phone to vehicles not adhering to meter and off-street parking lot parking regulations in addition to other parking violations within the coastal downtown area as outlined in the HBMC and CVCAnswers questions from the public and performs some light maintenanceGuides the public on use of paid parking equipmentWorks closely with Parking & Camping administrators to resolve permitting issuesCommunicates maintenance issues to appropriate divisionAssists with parking lot and lane closures during busy times and special eventsMaintains daily records of activities, including number of citations issuedReports to work as scheduled; maintains a regular and consistent attendance recordPerforms related duties as assigned
Ability to: Learn, understand, interpret, and apply applicable codes, regulations, policies, technical processes, and procedures, including vehicle code and parking ordinancesRead and interpret maps and other pertinent documentationAssess situations while remaining calm and using sound judgementLearn and apply terminology and procedures used in parking enforcementUse of a Citation Writer and cellular phoneCommunicate effectively with employees, the general public and outside authoritiesWork weekends, and holidays as scheduledWork as early as 5:00 a.m. and as late as 12:30 a.m. Provide quality customer serviceWalk and stand for extended periods of timeOperate a vehicle in a safe manner to travel within various locations of the City
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:- At least 18 years of age or olderMust be available to work weekends and holidays, early mornings, late nights, and various weekly shiftsHigh school diploma or equivalent certificate One (1) year of experience performing public contact or customer service work. Experience with enforcement related duties is desirable

A major portion of the job duties will be performed outdoors and there is full exposure to various weather conditions, including inclement weather. Incumbents regularly and frequently stand, walk, climb, stoop, crouch, twist, bend, push, pull, reach, grasp, and lift. Requires ability to drive a motor vehicle and entering and exiting vehicle several times a day. May require moving tools and equipment weighing 25 pounds or less.
