About the Role

Rose Law Firm (RLF) is building a world-class global legal team composed of exceptional lawyers trained outside the United States who operate—day in and day out—at a U.S. law firm standard. The Global Legal Research & Practice Fellow role is not a traditional “paralegal” position. It is a high-trust, high-expectation professional track designed for lawyers who want to: •Work on complex, real-world U.S. legal matters

  • Develop deep practice-area ownership
  • Become fluent in AI-enabled legal workflows
  • Invest in long-term career acceleration rather than short-term pay maximization

Fellows are expected to perform sophisticated legal research, analysis, and writing; to think independently; and—over time—to lead internal practice capabilities in defined subject-matter areas. ________________________________________ Practice Areas (Illustrative, Not Exhaustive) Fellows will develop depth and ownership in one or more of the following:

  • AI Enablement & Legal Workflow Design
  • Mergers & Acquisitions Transactions
  • Complex Corporate Litigation
  • Elder Abuse & Complex Civil Litigation
  • Bankruptcy & Insolvency
  • Complex Commercial Litigation
  • Real Estate (Transactional & Disputes)
  • AI Application Support (internal + client-facing)

Practice-area leadership is earned, not symbolic. ________________________________________ Compensation & Growth Path (Transparent and Guaranteed) Phase 1: Guaranteed Progression (First 7 Months)

  • Start: $3/hour
  • Guaranteed $1/hour increase every month
  • Rate at Month 7: $9/hour
  • Progression is automatic for Fellows who meet baseline expectations.

Phase 2: Promotion-Driven Upside (Years 1–3)

  • Eligibility for promotions with increases of up to $5/hour per year
  • Advancement tied to demonstrated ownership, judgment, and reliability
  • Long-term trajectory for exceptional performers substantially exceeds typical offshore compensation bands

Fellows will:

  • Receive exposure to best-in-class AI tools and workflows
  • Be expected to use targeted AI solutions provided by the firm
  • Participate in building repeatable, systemized legal outputs—not ad hoc drafting

AI is a core competency, not an experiment. ________________________________________ Core Expectations (Non-Negotiable) 1. Time Tracking & Accountability

  • All work must be tracked using Upwork’s Automatic Time Tracker.
  • Manual time entries are not permitted.
  • Weekly hour caps must be respected unless prior written approval is obtained.
  • Time entries must accurately reflect substantive legal work performed.
  • Padding or mischaracterization of time is grounds for termination.

2. Level of Engagement & Ownership

  • Engagement level must be comparable to a U.S.-based associate or senior paralegal.
  • Passive task execution is unacceptable. The firm expects:

o Anticipation of next steps o Proactive issue spotting o Follow-through without reminders

  • Fellows are expected to own outcomes, not merely complete assignments.

3. U.S.-Law-Firm–Equivalent Support Standard

  • Work product must be client-ready or attorney-ready with minimal revision.
  • Fellows must demonstrate:

o Professional judgment o Clear, structured written analysis o Client-ready communications when requested

  • “Offshore” status does not lower standards for accuracy, professionalism, or responsiveness.

4. Communication & Responsiveness

  • Clear, concise, professional English communication is mandatory.
  • Responsiveness is required during mandatory sync hours (7:00 AM – 2:00 PM Pacific Time).
  • Reasonable availability outside those hours is expected when deadlines require.
  • Failure to respond during business hours is a performance issue.

5. Camera-On & Meeting Standards

  • Camera-on participation is mandatory for all meetings, trainings, and internal calls.
  • Meetings must be joined from a computer (not a phone).
  • Fellows must present professionally and actively participate.

6. Technology & Technical Competence

  • Comfort with:

o Cloud-based document management systems o Legal research platforms o Structured workflows and task management tools

  • Ability to rapidly adapt to firm-specific systems is required.
  • Recurrent technical disruptions are not acceptable.

7. Confidentiality & Data Security

  • Strict adherence to confidentiality obligations at all times.
  • Secure, private workspace required.
  • No firm or client data may be stored locally or shared outside approved systems.

8. System Compliance

  • Mandatory compliance with firm workflows, templates, naming conventions, and documentation standards.
  • Personal workarounds or parallel systems are prohibited without approval.
  • Adaptability to evolving systems is required.

9. Professional Maturity & Judgment

  • Fellows must exercise sound judgment in ambiguous situations.
  • Risks must be escalated promptly—never concealed.
  • Defensiveness, emotional reactivity, or resistance to feedback will not be tolerated.

10. Coachability & Feedback

  • The firm operates on continuous improvement.
  • Direct feedback is part of daily work.
  • Failure to incorporate guidance is treated as a performance failure.

11. Ethical Standards

  • Full compliance with applicable ethical standards governing legal work.
  • Any conflicts, compliance concerns, or legal risks must be surfaced immediately.

12. Commitment & Priority

  • This role is intended to be a primary professional commitment.
  • Competing full-time roles or engagements that impair performance are disqualifying.
