Job Overview

In this exciting and challenging role, you will be responsible for performing specialized duties for the team, assisting the Assistant Manager and Manager with daily activities, and maintaining a thorough knowledge of tasks performed in the department. You will provide direction to other team members, serve as a resource for questions, and research reconciliation discrepancies and complex accounts. Your expertise and leadership skills will be essential in ensuring the efficient operation of our refund and credit balance processes, and your ability to work independently and as part of a team will be vital to our success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform specialized duties for the team and assist the Assistant Manager and Manager with daily activities
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of tasks performed in the department to fulfill the tasks of other team members in their absence
  • Provide direction to other members of the team, serve as a resource for questions, and research reconciliation discrepancies and complex accounts
  • Assist with training and the creation of training materials
  • Analyze accounts to determine if the balance is ready to bill the next payer, ensuring deadlines are met
  • Prioritize workload based on guidance from management
  • Maintain professional development by attending all required in-services/classes
  • Maintain a working knowledge of computer systems supported by the department
  • Maintain the privacy and security of all confidential and protected health information
  • Meet productivity requirements to ensure excellent service is provided to customers
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, HIPAA, and established corporate and departmental policies and procedures

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • An Associate's degree in Healthcare or Business, or equivalent relevant revenue cycle experience
  • Two years of revenue cycle experience
  • Previous lead experience in the revenue cycle preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain stable performance under pressure and handle stress in a way that maintains relationships with patients, customers, and co-workers
  • Strong computer and math skills, with knowledge of Excel required
  • Demonstrated leadership in establishing and achieving goals
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and all other third-party insurance requirements
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in unusual or stressful situations

Preferred Qualifications

While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, with a proven track record of success
  • Advanced degree in Healthcare or Business
  • Certification in revenue cycle management or a related field
  • Experience with electronic health records and other healthcare software systems
