- Performing landscaping duties on roadside (chipping of tree limbs, stump removal/grinding)
- Conducting rest area maintenance to wayside rests and scale areas (building and grounds maintenance, vegetation control, and parking surface repairs)
- Driving and operating a variety of heavy equipment to perform snow and ice duties, maintaining roadways for snow and ice control which includes: removing snow from roadways and shoulders; applying anti-icing and de-icing chemicals on stretches of highway under slippery conditions; removing frozen ice and materials from culverts; performing night or dawn patrols; preparing and inspecting winter equipment, such as snowplow equipment, and cutting edges and sanders.
- A valid Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with no air brake restriction AND a tanker endorsement. CDL must be listed on resume.
- One (1) year of experience performing activities in any of the following: snow and ice, soils, road surface maintenance, roadside maintenance, bridge maintenance, signs, or related activities (roadway maintenance, driving commercial vehicles, commercial landscaping, operating heavy equipment or farm experience)
- (Education): Successful completion of a Heavy Equipment Operation and Maintenance Program (of at least 60 semester credits; or 90 quarter credits) will substitute for one year of experience.
