Position Summary – Temporary Customer Service Associate

We are seeking an enthusiastic, detail‑oriented Temporary Customer Service Associate to join the bustling front‑line team at arenaflex. This role is perfect for energetic individuals who love interacting with people, enjoy a fast‑paced retail environment, and are committed to delivering a distinctive and delightful customer experience. As a temporary associate, you will be a vital brand ambassador, handling checkout operations, product recommendations, and ensuring store presentation meets our high standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delightful Guest Interactions: Greet every guest with a warm smile, maintain eye contact, and proactively offer assistance. Model best‑practice behaviours such as courtesy, active listening, and an “service until satisfied” mindset.
  • Cash Register & Transaction Management: Accurately register sales on the assigned cash register, process cash, credit, and electronic payments, handle voids, returns, rain checks, refunds, and exchanges while maintaining compliance with all financial policies.
  • Product Knowledge & Suggestive Selling: Recommend complementary items, trade‑up opportunities, and seasonal promotions to enhance the guest’s purchase experience and increase average transaction value.
  • Merchandising & Store Upkeep: Keep counters, shelves, and displays clean, well‑merchandised, and fully stocked. Rotate inventory using the FIFO method, price new merchandise, and assist with promotional displays, seasonal resets, and super‑structure setups.
  • Asset Protection & Compliance: Execute arenaflex’s asset protection procedures to prevent loss, and ensure adherence to state and local regulations for restricted products such as alcohol and tobacco.
  • Photo Services & Digital Offerings: Provide friendly assistance in the photo area, operate digital passport photo stations, poster printers, and creative machines, while promoting related photo products.
  • Web Pick‑Up & Order Fulfilment: Monitor online orders via Picture Care Plus, pick items accurately, and deliver orders promptly to guests arriving in‑store.
  • Facility Maintenance: Support interior and exterior upkeep, ensuring the store remains clean, organized, and safely navigable for all guests and team members.
  • Team Collaboration & Culture: Build respectful relationships with coworkers, adhere to arenaflex policies, and volunteer for special projects or temporary assignments as directed by management.
  • Continuous Learning: Attend training sessions, complete Performance Practice Logs (PPLs) and any additional development activities required by the store manager or corporate learning team.

Essential Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; previous retail or customer‑service experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with a clear, friendly, and courteous speaking style.
  • Basic math proficiency for cash handling, making change, and processing transactions.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks such as scanning items and restocking shelves.
  • Comfortable navigating point‑of‑sale (POS) systems, digital inventory tools, and basic computer applications.
  • Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and a willingness to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as business demands dictate.

Preferred Qualifications & Additional Skills

  • Prior experience in a fast‑paced retail environment or in a customer‑facing role within healthcare, pharmacy, or convenience‑store settings.
  • Familiarity with regulated product compliance (e.g., age‑verification for alcohol or tobacco).
  • Basic knowledge of visual merchandising principles and the ability to assemble promotional displays quickly.
  • Experience with photo‑service equipment, digital printing, or graphic‑design software is a plus.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets through effective suggestive selling techniques.

Core Competencies for Success

  • Customer‑Centric Mindset: Always place the guest’s needs first, anticipate questions, and provide solutions with empathy.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensure accurate transactions, correct pricing, and meticulous shelf organization.
  • Team Orientation: Share best practices, support teammates during busy periods, and contribute to a positive workplace culture.
  • Adaptability: Thrive in a dynamic environment where priorities shift quickly and new initiatives are introduced regularly.
  • Problem‑Solving: Resolve guest concerns promptly, escalating when necessary, and maintain composure under pressure.
  • Integrity & Compliance: Follow all arenaflex policies, safety guidelines, and legal requirements without exception.
