Key Responsibilities

As a Customer Service Assistant II - Community Centers, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing exceptional customer service to patrons at our community centers
  • Greeting visitors, providing information, and selling memberships, rentals, programs, and activities onsite
  • Ensuring the code of conduct is followed by youth/adult members utilizing the centers
  • Maintaining accurate accounting of funds received from patrons
  • Ensuring facility and grounds are kept neat, clean, and litter-free
  • Performing basic custodial and light maintenance duties
  • Assisting with set up and take down of rentals, programs, events, and other activities
  • Providing a positive attitude toward program participants and staff
  • Escalating problems, concerns, and emergencies to supervisor in a timely manner
  • Administering first aid as needed
  • Contributing to an environment of teamwork and respect
  • Fostering a culture of equity and inclusion by recognizing the diverse needs and perspectives of groups and individuals

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Minimum of 1 year of previous work or volunteer experience with customer service, and/or cash handling responsibilities
  • Multi-lingual skills desirable (i.e. Spanish, Russian, Ukrainian, Korean, Vietnamese, American Sign and/or Cambodian)
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to navigate emergency situations and make decisions quickly

Preferred Qualifications

* Previous experience working in a community center or similar setting

  • Experience with Point-of-Sale systems and other software applications
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends

Work Environment/Physical Demands

This role requires:

  • Work performed indoors and outdoors
  • Work various schedules, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends
  • Move throughout arenaflex facilities and buildings
  • Operate a computer and other office equipment
  • Bending, stretching, walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods
  • Ability to prepare written or typed recreational and leisure program material and monitor activities
  • Ability to communicate to conduct program and exchange information with district employees and customers
  • Noise level is moderately loud
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on occasion
  • Ability to navigate emergency situations, including performing CPR

This role may involve:
