Senior Data Quality Assurance Analyst (remote)

JOB SUMMARY: In this role you will perform data quality processes, measurements, and analyses to assess patterns, identify root causes, define data quality rules. Other responsibilities will include delivering status updates on data quality, following standards, policies, and processes, coordinating data remediation plans where data fails to meet required standard by working with business owners and vendor partners.

Responsibilities

  • Own and prioritize tickets without supervision
  • Multitask across various multiple projects and deadlines
  • Identify gaps and propose process improvements
  • Mentor junior team members and share best practices
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with minimal direction
  • Work with source systems and downstream data consumers to apply advanced data

quality techniques through automation to remediate issues, and implement processes to monitor data quality risks

  • Analyze data quality results as appropriate
  • Measure and audit large volumes of data for quality issues and improvements.
  • Perform root cause analysis of data anomalies as required
  • Implement data quality rules, automated measurement / monitoring, proactive

data quality assessment and identification of improvement opportunities.

  • Participate in the application, deployment, and continued enforcement of Data

Quality Management (DQM) processes.

  • Collaborate closely with the ETL and refresh teams to resolve data and

mapping inquiries

  • Streamline the data validation process for improved efficiency
  • Establish SFTP connections for new data feeds
  • Develop and implement procedures for secure and efficient data handling and

sharing

  • Assess and optimize the performance of data systems
  • Identify and address limitations in data reliability and usability
  • Utilize MS Excel, SQL, Linux, and other analytical tools for designing,

analyzing, synthesizing, integrating, and developing large data files

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues from engineering and business

backgrounds, emphasizing teamwork over supervisory roles

  • Define and manage projects, including planning, strategizing, quality

control, and scheduling

  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and requirements.

  • Assist in reviewing basic ETL mappings to understand source to target data

flows and identify potential data quality impacts.

  • Perform initial validation of ETL job outputs to confirm data completeness

and consistency before escalation to ETL engineers.

  • Support the ETL team by documenting data transformation logic, dependencies,

and known data nuances to improve job transparency and reduce investigation time.

  • Participate in troubleshooting sessions for minor data refresh issues to gain

familiarity with common ETL failure patterns.

  • Develop foundational knowledge of ETL processes with the goal of taking on

incremental tasks such as mapping review, job output validation, and minor refresh troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • Bachelors’ degree in computer science, information technology or a similarly

relevant field is highly preferred.

  • At least five (5) years’ experience of doing health care data quality

analysis, root cause investigations, and remediation (not application testing).

  • At least three (3) years’ experience working with data tools such as SQL
  • Candidates must have scripting experience, including proficiency with Bash or

similar scripting languages.

  • Hands‑on experience with YAML logic and troubleshooting
  • Understanding the basics of how ETL pipeline components (Scala/Python)

interact

  • Understanding of deidentification rules and eligibility/claims relationships
  • Experience and working knowledge of data in a healthcare data management

environment.

  • Data management background who understands data, data ingestion, proper

use/consumption, data quality, and stewardship.

  • Proven track record of managing projects, ensuring high-quality and timely

completion

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, demonstrating excellent

interpersonal and communication skills

  • Strong multitasking skills, capable of handling multiple tasks with varying

deadlines

  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities, even under pressure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Confident in making well-informed decisions based on available information
  • Individuals in this role must be able to work independently with minimal

supervision Nice-to-haves

  • EMR job execution experience is a plus
  • Experience with Spark log analysis is a plus
  • Advanced computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Salesforce,

and Jira
