Experienced Crisis Counselor – Remote 988 Crisis Chat and Text Support Specialist

Job Summary:

We're seeking an experienced Crisis Counselor to join our remote team as a 988 Crisis Chat and Text Support Specialist. As a Crisis Counselor, you'll work from the comfort of your own home, maintaining HIPAA compliance and focus, to connect with individuals experiencing emotional distress or mental health issues. Your primary responsibility will be to provide empathetic and non-judgmental support, building rapport and client engagement, while assessing and mitigating risk, and managing documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

* Work from home, maintaining HIPAA compliance and focus, to connect with individuals experiencing emotional distress or mental health issues

  • Build rapport and client engagement through empathetic and non-judgmental support
  • Assess and mitigate risk, and manage documentation while on calls
  • Provide available resources or information needed to support individuals in crisis
  • Identify safe, positive ways of coping and/or developing a safety plan
  • Remain calm and professional while multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure seamless support and services

Essential Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year accredited college or university

  • 1 year of experience in 988 chat and text support or a related field
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Proficiency in crisis intervention and risk assessment
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing emotional distress or mental health issues
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master's Degree in a related field (e.g., counseling, social work, psychology)

  • Experience working in a crisis hotline or call center environment
  • Certification in crisis intervention or a related field (e.g., QPR, ASIST)
  • Bilingual or multilingual skills
  • Experience working with diverse populations and communities
