Summary of Job Duties: The User Services Assistant provides customer service to library patrons at the Mullins Library Help Desks under the guidance of full-time library staff; circulates library materials to patrons and assists with the processing of new books; and answers directional, informational, and basic reference questions via phone, email, LibAnswers, or in-person. The assistant helps patrons locate library materials, including completion of requests for searches and recall/holds; records patron service statistics; checks out, checks in, and shelves materials; and assists patrons with Interlibrary Loan pickup and drop-off of materials. This position regularly assists with stacks maintenance, including sorting materials in LC call number order, loading materials onto book trucks, reshelving materials for patron use, performing shelf reading to ensure items are in correct order, and recording statistics. The position also assists patrons in using the KIC scanner, microform reader/scanners, viewing station, and audio/video editing station and reports mechanical or network issues; accepts and logs materials for course reserves; assists with filling Interlibrary Loan requests; and performs other duties as assigned. This position reports to the User Services Student Employee & Hourly Supervisor.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

- Enrolled at least 1/2 time in classes during the current semester
- Relevant library or customer service experience
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
