We are seeking a Benefits Program Analyst for a long-term contract opportunity. This role requires a minimum of six (6) years of experience supporting FSA and HSA administration, retirement plan operations, and benefits vendor management. This position plays a critical role in delivering a best-in-class employee benefits experience. In this role, you will put employees first by resolving escalated benefits issues, building credibility, and partnering closely with internal teams and external vendors. You will support one or more benefits vendors across health, welfare, and retirement programs, providing deep subject matter expertise while helping develop processes and procedures that improve efficiency and service delivery. This is a 100% remote role

Key Responsibilities

  • Build strong partnerships with HR partners, business leaders, and employees to ensure benefits delivery meets employee needs across health, welfare, and retirement programs
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on core benefit programs, including FSAs, HSAs, and retirement plans (401(k), employer match, etc.)
  • Resolve benefits issues and escalations within established SLAs (48–72 hours for non-complex issues; up to five business days for complex cases)
  • Analyze and resolve complex issues by identifying root causes, completing financial and member impact assessments, and recommending solutions
  • Provide oversight of retirement plan operations, including eligibility, enrollments, contribution corrections, compliance, and payroll file accuracy
  • Manage relationships with benefits vendors, including health, welfare, and retirement recordkeepers
  • Conduct ongoing vendor meetings (monthly/quarterly) to review service performance, participant experience, and contractual guarantees
  • Review and validate monthly vendor invoices for accuracy related to fees, participant counts, and plan rules
  • Support Annual Enrollment planning, testing, and execution across medical, dental, vision, FSA/HSA, and retirement plans
  • Partner with vendors to verify eligibility rules, IRS contribution limits, imputed income, COBRA rates, ASO fees, and premium accuracy
  • Review benefits system interface files to ensure accurate data mapping, required fields, and proper testing
  • Act as the internal SME for retirement benefits, including 401(k), after-tax contributions, company match programs, and nonqualified deferred compensation (if applicable)
  • Partner with payroll and technical teams to ensure accurate processing of contributions, loan repayments, catch-up contributions, and IRS limit monitoring
  • Support annual retirement plan activities, including audits and filings
  • Assist with plan design evaluations, amendments, and implementation of new retirement features or enhancements
  • Manage escalated retirement participant issues, including loans, hardship withdrawals, distributions, and rollovers
  • Identify, implement, and document process improvements and automation opportunities across all benefits programs
  • Participate in or conduct benefits training for HR, payroll, internal partners, and vendors
  • Execute vendor audit schedules, including retirement plan audits
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS, DOL, ACA, CMS, and applicable state regulations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum 6 years of benefits program management experience, with a strong focus on 401(k) and retirement plans
  • Fidelity and ADP experience required
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines
  • Advanced analytical skills with experience interpreting large data sets and tracking program metrics
  • Advanced Excel proficiency, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas, and shortcuts
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and ambiguous environment
  • Strong business judgment with a practical, solutions-oriented approach
  • Proven experience building and improving operational processes and procedures
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll systems; Workday, ADP Payroll, and Alight preferred
  • Strong knowledge of benefits-related legislation, including ERISA, HIPAA, ADA, COBRA, FMLA, Workers’ Compensation, and IRS regulations
  • In-depth knowledge of health and welfare benefit programs, including medical, life, disability, time away, and well-being benefits
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive HR data with integrity
