Managing Attorney
We’re seeking a Managing Attorney to lead our legal team and oversee the firm’s case pipeline. This fully remote role is open to residents of California, Washington, Arizona, and Texas. Candidates must hold an active California Bar license and be available to work 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM PST. As Managing Attorney, you’ll supervise attorneys and legal staff, guide case strategy, and ensure operational excellence. You’ll also maintain a focused caseload of complex or high-profile matters (~20% of your time).

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision
- Mentor and manage attorneys and legal staff, ensuring high-quality work and professional growth.
- Conduct case conferences and guide litigation strategy.
- Deliver internal training and MCLE programs.
- Review work product and provide constructive feedback.
- Handle client complaints and support resolution.
- Participate in hiring, performance evaluations, and promotions.
Pipeline & Operations Management
- Monitor case progress and ensure alignment with firm milestones.
- Collaborate with the Principal/CEO to optimize daily operations.
- Design and implement systems, templates, and processes to improve efficiency.
Client Advocacy & Representation
- Advise attorneys on ethical obligations and disciplinary matters.
- Represent clients in proceedings before state bar associations.
- Serve as an expert witness when needed.
- Maintain consistent, empathetic client communication.
Case Strategy & Documentation
- Investigate complaints and develop tailored defense strategies.
- Draft persuasive legal documents and negotiate settlements.
- Collaborate with colleagues and delegate tasks effectively.
Operational Excellence
- Maintain contemporaneous billing using Clio.
- Meet monthly targets of 125 billable and collected hours.
- Foster a positive, client-centered work culture.
Qualifications
Education & Licensing
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Active California Bar membership in good standing.
Experience
- 10+ years of legal practice, ideally in ethics, disciplinary defense, or complex litigation.
- 2+ years of supervisory experience.
- California State Bar experience highly preferred.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; Excel experience preferred.
