Job Summary

As a Customer Service Representative I, you will be responsible for answering incoming calls from providers, health plans, and members regarding eligibility, benefits, claims, coverage, and authorization of services. You will also problem-solve and explain programs and procedures to callers, as well as answer and address claim payment questions with providers. This is a remote position, and you will be working from the comfort of your own home.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Answer incoming phone calls via ACD phone system

  • Retrieve Voice Mails
  • Provide eligibility, benefits, claim, and referral status depending on the queue on which you serve
  • Assist in resolving issues for providers as they relate to claims, authorization, and eligibility inquiries
  • Utilize knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS codes, HCFA1500, and UB04 billing forms to resolve customer inquiries
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of customer interactions
  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve complex customer issues
  • Meet or exceed performance metrics and quality standards

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Excellent organization skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize work
  • Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS codes, HCFA1500, and UB04 billing forms
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive customer information

Education / Experience

* 1-3 years of customer service experience in a call center and/or healthcare environment preferred

  • High school degree or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred
  • Experience with healthcare billing and coding systems a plus

Physical Demands

* Must be able to work in a sitting position, use a computer, and answer a telephone

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally

Work Environment

* Remote work environment with access to a dedicated workspace and reliable internet connection

  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to maintain a high level of productivity and focus in a home-based setting

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits

* Competitive hourly rate: $14.50 - $21.80 per hour, depending on location, qualifications, and experience

  • Position may be eligible for a signing bonus for qualified new hires, subject to employment status
  • Conifer observed holidays receive time and a half
