Job Summary

As an Insurance Customer Service Representative I, you'll play a vital role in delivering exceptional customer experiences and supporting the day-to-day operations of our insurance business. Under direct supervision, you'll learn to process incoming insurance mail, assist with customer inquiries, and develop strong computer skills utilizing insurance software and the Microsoft Office platform. You'll also have the opportunity to develop a deep understanding of the insurance industry and our agency's policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

* Answer incoming phone calls to process address change requests, claim-related calls, and payments

  • Learn to counsel clients on procedural matters affecting claims and advise them of options available to them in pursuing a claim
  • Process discounts received through email or mail, using judgment to apply effective dates and ensure proper documentation is received
  • Assist CSR II and Lead CSR in research of premium differences to identify origin of difference and develop an understanding of the theory of rating
  • Develop strong computer skills utilizing insurance software and the Microsoft Office platform
  • Adapt a Five Diamond Service attitude, focusing on building strong customer relationships
  • Process returned mail received from insureds and insurance companies, striving to obtain working knowledge of impacts of errors and correct errors in a timely and effective manner

Qualifications

* High School Diploma or GED required

  • Attainment of P&C License required within two years of job entry
  • Experience in a customer service environment, preferably in the insurance industry
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
  • Basic computer skills and ability to learn insurance software and Microsoft Office platform
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

* Previous experience in the insurance industry

  • Familiarity with insurance software and Microsoft Office platform
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong customer service skills and ability to build strong relationships with customers
